1.INTRODUCTION:
Indian
Culture has great tradition of Gurukul. Guru Shishya Parampara
envisages great masters to impart knowledge to their disciples in
the true traditions of "Guru Shishya Parampara"
2. OBJECTIVE:
The Ministry of Culture
has noted the importance of the great cultural traditions of India
and started the Guru Shishya Parampara in 1990-91. The objective of
this scheme was to preserve and promote the rich cultural
traditions. There are a lot of rare and vanishing art forms in
India, which need to be encouraged through this scheme. It is
essential that young talents should be nurtured to acquire skills in
their chosen field of art under the guidance of experts and masters
(Gurus). The various art fields where Guru Shishya Parampara can be
implemented include traditional folk and classical artforms. On
behalf of MOC, the scheme would be executed at the level of ZCCs.
3.DURATION:
The Guru Shishya
Parampara scheme in the identified art fields could be for a period
of two years, subject to further extension of one year at the
maximum. There will be one expert as Guru with one accompanist and
4 pupils in each identified art form.
4.SCALE OF PAYMENT:
As per the terms and
conditions received from Govt. of India, the honorarium/scholarship
is to be paid to the Guru, one accompanist and to the disciples
after receiving the quarterly progress report from the Guru.
Their daily attendance is to be verified by the Guru. The scales of
payment are as under: -
"The financial
assistance for the Gurus could be Rs. 2,000/- per month and one
accompanist could be offered Rs. 900/- per month. Selected pupils
would be given scholarship of Rs. 500/- per month".
5. PROCEDURE OF FORWARDING APPLICATION TO ZCC:
The applications
should be sent to respective ZCCs through the concerning Directorate
of Cultural Affairs of concerned state or directly by the applicant
Guru/ institution. Their application should include brief
description of the art form along with justification to start Guru
Shishya Parampara Scheme.
