INTRODUCTION
While the awards and fellowships initiated by the
National Academies honour eminent artists and scholars, it has been
felt that there is no scheme at national level to recognize and
encourage young talents. Ministry of Culture proposes to introduce a
scheme for recognition and encouragement of young talents which will
have the following features :-
A. West Zone
Cultural Centres will identify the various Performing Traditional
Folk Arts form in their region and will select one or two talented
artists in each of the fields.
B. The total
number of award winners should be limited to 20 persons or group
from all the member states of the wzcc.
C. The Artists to
be recognized with these awards will be in the age of 18 -31 years
2. OBJECTIVE
The Ministry of Culture has noted the importance of
the great cultural traditions of folk Dance, Music, Instruments and
Theatre to provide recognition and to encourage the future
generation. The objective of this scheme is to preserve and to
promote the rich traditional cultural heritage. There are lot of
rare and vanishing art forms in India, which need to be encouraged
through this scheme. it is essential that young talents should be
honoured and get exposure through the awards. On behalf of MOC the
scheme would be executed west zone cultural centre the area of wzcc
is Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman Diu & Dadra Nagar
Haveli.
Maximum 20
artists will be awarded in a financial year. The fields from which
artists are to be selected will be decided by the wzcc with the help
of state Academies/ Department of Culture of member states i..e
Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman Diu & Dadra Nagar Haveli.
4. AMOUNT OF AWARD
Award may be given to
individual or to a group. A Citation and rupees 10000 only will be
given to an individual or to a group.
5.
SELECTION OF ARTIST.
To select the artist,
West Zone Cultural Centre may organise competitions in each member
state in collaboration with the Academies / Department of Culture of
respective members states.
6.
PRESENTATION OF AWARD
A Zonal level festival
such as folk festival will be organised by the West Zone Cultural
Centre in which the award will be presented followed by the
performance of selectcd award winners in each state of the zone.
7. PROCEDURE OF FORWARDING APPLICATION TO WZCC:
The application should
be sent to respective WZCC on a plan paper along with his/her
bio-data and Xerox copies of experience Certificate or
recommendations of the guru. The application should include brief
description of the art form along with the justification to provide
the award.
