NATIONAL CULTURAL
EXCHANGE PROGRAMME (NCEP)
NCEP is meant to exchange of performing artists, craftsmen,
painters, sculptors, etc. and to cover the interaction of scholars,
academicians, writers, musicologists, experts in folk traditions and
exponents of any cultural activity. It will include seminars,
exhibitions and workshops.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS SCHEME ARE :
To facilitate cultural curiosity of one region for another within
the country, it is vital to undertake exchange of cultural
groups/experts between State and regions in the field of
performing/visual/literary arts and to ensure cultural integrity of
the country.
To foster a sense of oneness in the whole and thereby help to
promote mutual understanding and appreciation of the different
people with different traditions, customs, cultures and artistic
talents.
This programme has acted as an important instrument for national
integration and communal harmony. The WZCC has been inviting
artists, craftsmen, theatre groups, painters, etc. in its major
festivals like Shilpgram Utsav, Folk Festival, Umang, Traditional
Festivals and also sponsoring artists and craftsmen etc. to other
ZCCs in their important festivals as per their requirements.
The sponsoring ZCCs bears the remuneration & travel expenditure
while the host ZCC provides for the local hospitality. The
remuneration to be paid to the folk artists/craftsmen for the NCEP
programmes is fixed by Govt. of India from time to time. |
