WEST ZONE CULTURAL CENTRE, UDAIPUR: 
PUPPET WORKSHOP

(21st October’09 to 15th  December’09 at Shilpgram, Udaipur)

West Zone Cultural Centre organized a 56 days Puppet Workshop under Cultural Industries Pilot Project with financial support of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India at Shilpgram, Udaipur between 21st October’09 to 15th December’09.

26 artists from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi participated in the workshop. In the initial 30 days, experts like Shyam Mali, Assistant Director, Lok Kala Mandal, Udaipur; Dr. Prem Bhandari, Head, Music Department, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur; Shri Mahipat Kavi & Mrs. Leela Mahipat Kavi, From Ahmedabad, Prof. H.V. Sharma & Mrs. Shama Sharma From Delhi, were invited to impart knowledge of puppet making, music and mask making. In the remaining period following experts made all the endeavours for improvement in the quality of the products, namely, Dadi Padamji From Delhi, Anukampa Laique , Kamini Digana, Rachna Rot From Udaipur, Dolly Desai From Ahmedabad, Bhargav Thakkar From Ahmedabad. The other experts who imparted skill and knowledge in other concerned areas are Shri B.L. Meena, Assistant Director, Office of D.C. (Handicrafts), New Delhi and Shri J.S. Pokharna, Manager, Rajasthali for marketing; Dr. Karunesh Saxena, Dean, Faculty of Management, Mohanlal Sukhadia University for work, culture and management; Shri Pramod Kumar Garg for working of Banks; Shri Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Udaipur for Self Help Group formation.

An exhibition was also organized between 21st  to 30th December’09 during Shilpgram Utsav’09 at Shilpgram, Udaipur.
