India has a
rich tradition to celebrate the fairs and festivals where the
human express their joy and happiness through the creations,
dancing and singing. The West Zone Cultural Centre celebrates "Shilpgram
Utsav" at Shilpgram, Udaipur every year during last ten days of
December, which attracts thousand of visitors from within the
country and abroad. It is a national annual art and craft fair
organised in rural surroundings. The ethnic atmosphere of
shilpgram provides new gesture to the festival.
Shilpgram Utsav is intended to bring the creations of hundreds
of talented craftsmen to the doorsteps of common man eliminating
middlemen. More than 400 craftsmen & artisans from all over the
country put up their stalls in the traditional ‘Haat Bazar’
environment of Shilpgram every year, where they create, exhibit
and sell their masterpieces. Every evening witnesses a riotous
colour of folk dances, music from various part of country and
programmes organised on different themes.
